Government Relations

Government Relations

Government Relations services are a resource for policy makers and the George Mason Community, and advances the congressional, state and local legislative and regulatory interests of the university.

There are currently three sub-teams that form government relations:

The federal government relations team works closely with university leadership to develop a legislative agenda that advances Mason’s priorities in Congress and the Federal agencies.

The state government relations team represents the university administration’s positions in Richmond during the General Assembly and throughout the year. The team has outside counsel to support activities related to the budget and other policy issues.

The community relations team is responsible for representing the university to local governments, business and citizens groups. In particular, the team manages outreach to chambers of commerce and other business specialty groups. The community relations team is also responsible for citizen interaction, project management outreach and advisory board’s activities.
