A division of University Life, Mason Recreation offers state-ofthe- art facilities for the university and surrounding community. Fitness memberships that include access to all three recreation and athletic facilities—the Aquatic and Fitness Center, the Recreation and Athletic Complex, and Skyline Fitness Center— are available to university-affiliated and nonaffiliated individuals.   • The Aquatic and Fitness Center (AFC)

    The AFC offers a two-story fitness gallery with 3,000 square feet of cardio and 5,000 square feet of weight-training equipment. Each of the nearly 60 cardio machines includes a television. Several group exercise classes, and indoor cycling classes are offerd at no additional cost to students or Mason Recreation members. The AFC features a recreational pool, an Olympicsize competition pool and diving well, a 16-person hot tub, and a dry sauna. Private swim lesson packages are available for children and adults, as well as lifeguard certification, water safety instructor, and lifeguard instructor certification.
  • Recreation and Athletic Complex (RAC)

    The RAC is a 120,000-square-foot facility that boasts three gymnasiums, two racquetball courts, two squash courts, a two-story fitness gallery that spans more than 15,000 square feet, and a refreshment center. An equipment checkout desk is available during normal operating hours and offers a wide variety of equipment for members, including camping gear. Semester-based passes may also be purchased for additional access to martial arts or yoga and pilates classes.
  • Skyline Fitness Center

    Centrally located on the Fairfax Campus, Skyline Fitness Center offers a variety of cardio and strength machines, as well as free weight equipment during the fall and spring semesters. The center also has a gymnasium with a full-size basketball court and basketballs for checkout.

The Corner Pocket in the Hub offers a variety of activities including billiards, table tennis, foosball, air hockey, electronic gaming booth, and video games. The game room can be rented for private birthday parties and events.

The Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center is the region’s premier site for year-round recreational, educational, social, and cultural programs and activities. The state-of-the-art 110,000 square-foot facility serves both university and community needs and offers a 50-meter competition pool; leisure pool with slide, vortex, and specialty features, including a whirlpool and saunas; two-court gymnasium; indoor track; fitness complex with aerobics studio and expansive strength and cardiovascular training rooms; drop-in child care service; racquetball/wallyball courts; locker facilities and family locker rooms; Mason’s SMART Lab; classrooms and other meeting space; and a full range of adult and youth programming, including summer and holiday break camps. The Freedom Center is the result of an innovative joint partnership between George Mason University, Prince William County, and the City of Manassas.
