State Government Relations Overview🔗

The Office of State Government Relations (SGR) represents the university's positions in Richmond during the General Assembly and throughout the year with key stakeholders. Additionally, the SGR team monitors legislative issues and activities in Richmond and communicates information to university leaders. The Office of State Government Relations:

  • Represents the university’s position on state governmental issues to state officials
  • Monitors and tracks legislative and state activities during the General Assembly session
  • Communicates information to university leaders and the university community on significant state and legislative matters
  • Educates the university community about state relations and key legislative issues that may interest or impact George Mason
  • Assists legislators in working in partnership with the university on important issues impacting the Commonwealth of Virginia

Tuesday, January 27

The Office of Alumni Relations will host its annual Alumni Legislative Reception.

Thursday, March 5

The Student Government will travel to Richmond to meet with lawmakers and advocate for its policy agenda during the annual Mason Lobbies Day.
