Toni Andrews

Toni M. Andrews is the Senior Associate Director in the Office of Community and Local Government Relations.

Her professional career has included work in journalism, governmental affairs, and media relations at The White House. She owned and operated The Andrews Agency, a full-service marketing, advertising, and public relations firm for over twelve years. She served as Vice President of Public Relations and Corporate Communications at Burke & Herbert Bank–the Washington, DC area’s oldest bank.

Ms. Andrews is responsible for community and local government relations primarily at the Mason Square campus. In this role she serves as the liaison to local elected officials (the Arlington County Board and the Alexandria City Council), chambers of commerce, homeowners and civic associations, and other professional organizations. In addition, Ms. Andrews works to identify and strategically connect business and organizations with George Mason in order to build relationships and partnerships across the university’s academic units. She also produces regular communications and promotions to the community to build awareness about programs, events, and news happening at the university.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a graduate of Leadership Alexandria (Class of 2008) and Leadership Arlington (2014). She was a 2022 recipient of the NAACP Arlington Branch “President’s Award.”

She serves on the Board of Directors for the Clarendon Alliance. She is a past member of the advisory board for the Bipartisan Leadership Project within The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution. She served previously as a Board member of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, the Alexandria Small Business Development Center, and Rebuild Alexandria. She is a published author of essays and a novel (The Road To Second Chance, Paper House, 2023). She lives in Alexandria, Virginia.
