Roddena Kirksey

Roddena Kirksey is an 11-year marketing and communications professional with progressive experience within higher education.

For nearly three years, Roddena has led Mason’s alumni communications and marketing efforts. She provided email marketing expertise and guidance. She also led social media strategy and managed the alumni website.

One of her chief accomplishments was leading communications and marketing for the Mason Nation Thriving Together Virtual 5K that engaged 713 alumni and friends and raised over $30,000 in the past two years supporting the Student Emergency Assistance Fund, the Student Food and Housing Insecurity Fund (Patriot Pantry), and the Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Campus Center Fund.

Before her time at Mason, Roddena held positions at Thomas Nelson Community College and Tidewater Community College in advancement and alumni relations.

Additionally, she possesses experience with front line fundraising, event planning, and board management.

Her other professional experiences include serving as press secretary for the Portsmouth, VA NAACP branch and landing an executive internship in the City of Norfolk’s Emerging Leaders program.

Roddena is a proud alumna of Old Dominion University, Norfolk State University, and Liberty University, where she studied marketing, public relations, and executive leadership respectively. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, and going to the beach.
