State Government Relations Council
The George Mason University State Government Relations Council (SGRC) plays a strategic role focusing on legislative and budget initiatives with the Commonwealth of Virginia in Richmond. The two primary roles for SGRC are (1) monitor and react to policy and budget developments in Richmond that may impact the university and (2) work collaboratively to establish legislative and budget priorities to promote in Richmond. In recent years, the efforts of SGRC have resulted in significant increases in funding for student financial aid, increases in compensation for faculty and staff, and funding for a number of new facilities.
