Sarah Huang Spota

Sarah Huang Spota joined George Mason University as the Associate Director of State Government Relations in July 2018.

At George Mason University, Ms. Spota works closely with University’s leadership team to promote and execute Mason’s priorities and agenda. Working closely with Mason’s Executive Director of State Government Relations, Ms. Spota serves as a liaison between agencies of state government and the University.

Prior to joining Mason, Ms. Spota spent many years working in the state and federal levels of government. She served as House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s District Representative in his Richmond office and assisted with constituent services and legislative matters. Before that, Ms. Spota worked in Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling’s office handling legislative concerns and working as a liaison with the General Assembly. Ms. Spota also previously worked at Alliance Group, a government relations and public affairs firm in Richmond, whose clients included state agencies and Fortune 500 companies across the mid-Atlantic.

Ms. Spota is active in the community and serves on the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia and the Junior League of Richmond. She also serves on ChamberRVA’s Chesterfield Cabinet and on the Leadership Team of their Young Professionals Program.

Ms. Spota graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science.
